Fact checking exercise for a particular content in Health Patrol is done at three levels –

Preliminary fact check: Qualified team assesses the news piece, conducts preliminary fact check by checking the source of the news and further share it for the advanced research.
C. LEVEL 2:
Advanced research conducted: Advanced search is conducted by the medical team for medical sources of news, results and conclusion of the research and interpretation.

Furthermore, we ensure to lay down relevant interests of our panel experts, if any, regarding the fact check.

• How do we select a story for Fact Check?

Health Patrol works on breaking medical misinformation occurring due to the following reasons:
a) Misinformation due to lack of medical help and age old cultural superstition
b) Misinformation due to rumors spreads through social media and other mediums using internet (Facebook pages and messaging apps like WhatsApp)
c) Misinformation due to lack of updated knowledge or enough knowledge about different medical practices or beliefs
Health Patrol’s Internal Team tracks mainstream and social media for possibly dubious information, propaganda and suspiciously viral important posts.
Since medical misinformation has a potential to exist in the underbelly of the society and yet not be viral, we also invite our readers to raise their doubts to us. For the same we maintain an exclusive, special mobile number as our WhatsApp channel where users can forward their questions, doubt or dubious messages. The number is +917428098883 or they can also directly send their query through our website. We DO NOT select any content for fact checking that falls outside the purview of health. Furthermore, we use the same high standards of evidence and judgement for equivalent claims/queries regardless of who made the claim or raised the query.

Once an information piece has gone through all the stages of verification, it is categorised into Real, Fake, In Progress section. The Uncategorisedsection is where the general content is uploaded.
